Organization and offering of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Classes. Classes meet twice a week for two hours. Levels: Basic and Intermediate, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm to 8pm, Tuesdays and Thursday 11am to 1pm, Cost - $100/year (September to June), Funder: BRA, Class fees

Citizenship preparation classes including civics, history and English instruction to prepare for the citizenship interview, as well as citizenship application assistance by appointment with assistance from our staff members; Application assistance - for forms N648, I90 (donations accepted).   • COVID-19 Assistance Center.
  • Assistance in the access of affordable health-care to individuals in need.
  • Collaboration with Brockton Neighborhood Health Center on the HIV Project - providing information to the Cape Verdean community in Brockton and in Cape Verde about HIV and AIDS.
  • Collaboration with the Department of Public Health to provide information on Tuberculosis and Diabetes.
  • Preparation and distribution of pamphlets regarding health issues including information on agencies and health providers to be contacted.

  • On-site job bulletin board with information on the availability of current employment opportunities.
  • Collaboration with employment agencies to assist clients in obtaining jobs.
  • Summer Work and Learning Program for youths ages 14 to 24.

Consular Assistance

A staff from the Cape Verdean Consulate’s office assists with Passport renewals, INS forms, declarations, and other Consulate services on Tuesdays, Thursdays 9 am - 4 pm, costs set by the Consulate.

Counseling Services

Therapeutic interventions to families and individuals to stabilize and unify families referred by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) the Family Networks (FBS) program.

Youth Programs

Referrals and assistance with after-school program and activities on-site and off-site for elementary and high school youth.
Onsite After School Program providing youth with a Safe Space. Youth have access to the Resource Center, tutoring, and scheduled activities. Call Marissa Rodrigues, Program Manager for more information on Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 5:30pm - September to June.
YEP! We Can Summer Program - six week summer program at ACVB (9am-3pm), July to August (annually), Funders/Collaborators BRA, BAWIB and Brockton Public School

Elderly Programs

Provide information and assistance to elders 60 and over. Elders are assisted with interpreting, advocacy, letter writing, outreach, and referrals to social service agencies for elderly clients, cost is free donation, Funder/Collaborators Old Colony Planning Council, Brockton Adult Day Health Center, Elders referred to the Brockton Adult Day Health Center on 764 N. Referral Services

  • Drop-in center to assist with obtaining information (housing, government benefits and forms, medical forms) filling out applications, letter writing and follow-up with on-site staff members.
  • Provide referral services to all relevant social service agencies including interpreters from a private pool.
  • Collaboration with South Coastal Counties Legal Assistance to provide legal assistance to educate clients especially in the area of immigration and civil rights.

General advocacy services for a more effective cultural and physical integration into mainstream society.

  • Provide mediation between members of the community and the social agencies that serve them.
  • Provide advocacy to members regarding social injustices they may encounter.

Recreation, Cultural Activities and Sport

Following the saying “healthy mind in a healthy body”, this Association, through volunteerism, will try to organize and promote informational seminars and cultural activities such as the Annual Cape Verdean Day held every last Sunday in July.
